How to Add Social Media Links to Squarespace

Adding social media links to your Squarespace website can help visitors connect with your brand and engage with you on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and more.

Unlike some other platforms, Squarespace makes it super easy to integrate social media links directly into your website, without any need for code or plug-ins. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to add them in!

Step 1: Log into Your Squarespace Account.

First, navigate to Squarespace and log in to your account. Click on your website where you want to add the social media links in.

Step 2:  Add the Social Links Block.

Once logged in, Go to the Pages section on the left-hand side of the editor, and click on the page or location where you want your social links to go. A great place I usually put these is on the Contact page of each website I build - it’s a great way for users to find you on socials if they’re looking to get in touch!

Once you’ve found where you want to add your links, click the + Add Block button.

Now scroll down and find the Social Links block, which will display different social media platform icons.

Step 3:  Configure your Social Media Links.

Once the Social Links block is added to your page, you can move it where you want your links to appear.

To add in your own profile links, click the Edit icon (pencil).

For each platform you want to include, click Add Social Link, and then enter the URL of your social media profile in the corresponding field. You can add as many as you like! Squarespace supports all of the most popular social networks including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter (or X), LinkedIn and more!

Just make sure to enter the correct URLs to ensure that visitors are directed to the right social media pages.

Step 4:  Design and Style your icons.

Now is the fun part! Click on the Design tab at the top, and style your icons to match your website’s look and feel.

You can change the icon’s border shapes, alignment, and size directly from the menu - and the colors will match your theme for this section in your site styles. Below are the settings I used for this site:

Step 5: Save your Changes!

That’s it! After configuring your social media links and customizing the design, click Save in the top-left corner of the page editor. Your changes will be applied to your live website immediately, and you’ll be good to go!

5 Benefits of Adding Social Icons to Your Squarespace Website

Adding social media icons to your Squarespace website provides several advantages that can boost engagement, enhance user experience, and help build your brand. Here are five key benefits:

1. Increase Social Media Engagement

Social media icons make it easy for visitors to find and follow your brand on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. This can increase engagement by giving users a direct path to connect with your business on other channels. More social followers can lead to more likes, shares, comments, and interactions, helping grow your online community.

2. Improve Brand Visibility

By featuring social icons on your website, you’re promoting your social media presence and encouraging visitors to interact with your brand across different platforms. This increased visibility can lead to better brand recognition and help you build a stronger online identity as visitors engage with your content on multiple fronts.

3. Boost Website Credibility

Adding social media links lends credibility to your website. It shows that your business has an active presence across different channels, making it appear more trustworthy and legitimate. Social proof (such as followers and engagement on platforms) reassures potential customers and builds confidence in your brand.

4. Enhance User Experience

Social icons provide a seamless way for visitors to access your social media pages without having to search for you manually. This improves the overall user experience by offering a more convenient navigation option and encourages users to explore more of your content on external platforms.

5. Drive Traffic to Your Social Media Profiles

Social media icons act as gateways to your profiles, helping to drive traffic from your website to your social channels. Once visitors land on your social profiles, they’re more likely to engage with your content, participate in discussions, or share your posts with their own networks, which can ultimately lead to greater visibility and potential conversions.

In summary, adding social media icons to your Squarespace site can expand your reach, build trust, improve user experience, and help you grow your online presence across multiple channels.
